Negative votes on this? Seriously? So what if they're breaking the jailbreak, they're allowed to do so.
And we're allowed to vote negative if we don't like this. Generally speaking in terms of iOS "security fixes" also means "closing holes used for jailbreak exploits". I'm all for closing holes like the ones that allowed the jailbreakme.com jailbreaks via Safari, but most of the holes used by JBers require the user to do some very specific things (like putting the phone into DFU mode). These aren't a threat to the average user.
I have a 10gig weekly download limit at school and having to download a 600mb update every week for my iPod is annoying.
No one is making you update.

The ipods do not have enough individuality/functionality to do this, without changing the entire underlying scheme. (Generally they fix this in Itunes).
What they do is prevent unwitting individuals to participate easily in large scale piracy, but allow local piracy.
This tends to INCREASE sales, not DECREASE sales. Local piracy creates obligation and requires work. Both of these create demand for legal product interestingly enough. (Large scale piracy does nothing for demand, but DRM does not affect large scale piracy).
At anyrate, the apple system is well done, the movie folks should just take thier money, and I suppose complain loudly, but just take the money

Guessing that MobileMe (as it is now) will go free, and then the premium service will allow backup and access to all your system. $100 a year for that would definitely be worth it.

BTW, DVD Player only supports HD-DVDs created in DVD Studio Pro. It will not play retail HD-DVDs. :(

Why? The law requires an rights owner to defend its IP or risk losing it. These suits are just business, no hard feelings, as seen by Apple's monster-sized component contract w/ Samsung. Any yes, business is about making money.
Every time there's a patent or copyright article and people go off the deep end calling these companies crazy/evil, etc, I wish the article would indicate the fact that they are actually required to do so or risk losing their patent/trademarks. Doesn't even matter if they want to or not.

I've been reading a number of comments from a variety of sources since the iPhone runs OSX it is a pocket-size Mac. Applications, Widgets etc will all be written for this device which will all be OSX compatible.
Laptops and desktops, iLife etc. will all be announced in good time. However the iPhone is a revolutionary device. So much so that RIMM and Palm both fell today on the stock market. The iPhone, like the original iPod, have established a new standard.

No movie studios have enabled this feature ("ICT" Image Constraint Token), nor have they stated that they intend to enable this feature in the future (although that is possible). All HD DVDs and Blu-Ray discs AND players currently available can send a full high definition image over analog component outputs as well as HDMI.
