I wonder, assuming this device ever does come out, could/would apple release two versions (CDMA and quad GSM) and then let you select which carrier's software to download to the phone (either at home, on the online order page, or in the store)? This would be far simpler than having either a just-gsm or just-CDMA phone and more cost effective than a dual radio version on which you choose which carrier/radio to use (which I believe was suggested earlier in the thread)...
That way, Apple could continue to sell the product through their own their rather huge network of stores and online. They could also have two versions, a "pro" (treo/HTC/Blackberry-esque QWERTY device w/ MS office integration and Mail/Outlook e-mail push) and a "consumer" (music-centric, smaller, no QWERTY), in keeping witht he rest of their lineup of products. Just a thought.

Is there a reason why so many use Avid over FCP?
There are a number of reasons ranging from they have no compelling reason to switch away from the tool they are most comfortable with to their workflow requires things that Avid does better than FCP to they've already invested a lot of money in an Avid workflow. Off the top of my head I'd give Avid the nod for things like better multi-user environment, better shared storage solution, better media management, better multi-camera editing, better format support (AMA), better handling of mixed media timelines, and, for lack of a better term, a more refined product in terms of solely editing.
Does that mean Avid is perfect? No, far from it. Does that mean FCP is horrible in the categories I mentioned, no not necessarily (although FCP is really lacking in multi-user environments). A big reason FCP became so popular though is because it could do the majority of what Avid could do for much, much less (like $60,000 or more less back in the day). Obviously the price difference is much less now (I think Media Composer software goes for $2000 or $2500) but for many of FCP's core users that's still a huge difference.

there was supposed to be a mass exodus when the Verizon iPhone was reeased as well/ It was not as many as the analysts expected. I doubt there will be a mass exodus for this either becasue the majority of people are sheep. They might get mad for a moment, but eventually they will justify staying and that will be it. Making a stand is hard, conforming is easy.
There may not be a "mass exodus" but you can rest assured that my family (4 of us) will be switching to Verizon and joining my Dad (who currently is with Verizon) as of July 1st. :D

Could I use a MiniDV camera for video input (ignoring its microphone) but a USB microphone for sound input at the same time in iMovie?
Off the top of my head I believe you would only be able to import the video and audio from the DV camera at the same time, you would need to use an external mic which was connected to the camera itself or add in your mic sound in post.

i initilized my drive and cleaned everything off including the os. when i startup, the lilttle mac folder comes up and blinks a question mark. when i put in my os 9 cd it attempts to boot. most of the time, it just doesn't work. others, it will start to load stuff, then just freezes. i am starting to think that my disk is flawed. what do you think? what should i do?

I am actually trying to find several Think Different posters for our new Mac Lab at our High School. I don't even mind if they are authentic and would actually prefer something more affordable.
The Think Different posters would add a great touch but would like to find any Apple related posters I could frame and decorate our new lab.

How we appear should never be a criterion for how we are treated under law. Justice is supposed to be blind.
Is anyone here arguing that the way someone dresses does or should have a legal consequence in a rape situation? I haven't read every post, so perhaps someone is. Is treatment under the law the only aspect of this being discussed in this thread?

Stylus-focused tablets failed in no small part because of the easily-lost one-more-thing-to-fiddle-with can't-function-without-it stylus requirement. So, Apple built a tablet that didn't need it. Insofar as a few people do need a stylus for limited applications, third parties make them. Buy one if you need it; nobody is stopping you but you.
Yeah except Photoshop is for people like me so it is relevant. Also work on your anger management classes.

Hello, I currently have a iPod touch 2g with 4.2.1 firmware and a iPod touch 4g with 4.2.1 firmware but when I try to jailbreak both iPods with the corresponding firmware, redsn0w freezes at "waiting for reboot.". Anyone know of a fix? I tried unplugging and plugging iPod, also switching ports.
