Yogyakarta.

YogyakartaYOGYAKARTA (which is often spelt and referred to in different ways such as Yogya, Jogja or Jogjakarta) is  the premier tourist city in Java, Indonesia. Yogya is an old city that keeps a lot of hidden charm in it and it has a unique provincial government as it is the only province in Indonesia which is lead by the Monarchy. The Sultan of Yogyakarta is the King of Yogyakarta Palace and he serves as the elected Governor of the province.

Yogya is a city with outstanding historical and cultural heritage and was the centre of the Mataram Dynasty and it has numerous thousand-year-old temples as an inheritance of the great ancient kingdoms.

Yogyakarta is famous for being the centre for Indonesian higher eduction and has many students from all over Indonesia, Asia, Africa and Europe. There are four state universities established in Yogja as well as private universities which are modern and have a high standard of education facilities.

Yogya balances life from the past and present with relative ease and is referred to as the soul of Java.  It has long been known as the cradle of Javanese culture and heritage and has been described as "Never Ending Asia", and "The Real Java".  Its residents live in harmony and have typical Javanese hospitality which makes it a wonderful city to visit.
